Los adornos metálicos que se implantan como "piercing" en la nariz, las cejas o en el rostro en torno a la boca resultan peligrosos a muy bajas temperaturas y pueden provocar lesiones por congelación.
"El metal se pega congelado a la piel. Por ese motivo no se deben retirar ese tipo de adornos a temperaturas bajo cero", advirtió hoy un portavoz de la caja sanitaria "Techniker Krankenkasse" (TK) con motivo de la ola de frío que azota Alemania, donde esta madrugada se registraron en el este del país hasta 26 grados bajo cero.
La retirada de dichos adornos puede dar lugar a dolorosas quemaduras por congelación en lugares sensibles como la nariz, los ojos o la boca, advirtió la TK, que ha realizado un estudio sobre la problemática del "piercing" y sus consecuencias para la salud.
Los científicos de la citada caja de servicios sanitarios subrayaron que el metal se enfría con suma rapidez y es un mejor conductor de temperatura que el tejido adiposo.
En las partes del cuerpo expuestas directamente al frío los adornos de "piercing" enfrían el tejido de su entorno y estrangulan la circulación sanguínea, por lo que las piezas metálicas se pueden pegar por congelación a la piel, explicó la TK.
